Usage

Every paid plan includes an allowance of disk space and outbound bandwidth. Disk and bandwidth beyond your allowance are measured over the billing cycle and billed at the rates on exe.dev/pricing, on the invoice when your plan renews.

On Work, pool capacity beyond the included 4 vCPU / 8 GB is also metered by the hour. See VM pools.

Allowances by plan

  • Personal: one allowance for your account, shared by all of your VMs. Disk is 100 GB per 2 vCPU of your capacity. Bandwidth is 200 GB.
  • Work: each pool has its own allowance, based on its configured capacity. Disk is 100 GB per 2 vCPU, averaged over the billing period. Bandwidth is 50 GB per vCPU per billing period, prorated by how long the capacity existed. A pool's allowance covers only that pool's VMs. Team VMs outside any pool have a separate allowance.
  • Enterprise: disk and bandwidth are covered by your contract.
  • Individual and Team (legacy): Individual has one allowance for the account. On Team, each member gets their own allowance, shared across their VMs.

Adding VMs to your account or to a pool does not add allowance. On Work, adding or growing a pool does, and a standalone VM carries its own.

billing usage shows your VMs' usage against your plan. On a team, admins and billing owners can see usage for each pool with team usage or at exe.dev/team/usage.

Disk

Extra storage is charged in GiB-months at the rate on exe.dev/pricing. One GiB-month represents 1 GiB of extra storage used for one full monthly billing cycle.

Storage use goes up and down, so we bill your average extra storage over the cycle, not the peak.

For example, if a VM was active for 10 days of a 30-day billing cycle and averaged 100 GiB of extra storage during that time, exe.dev bills 100 GiB × 10/30 = 33.33 GiB-months.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth is a running total of outbound traffic across your VMs, accumulated over the billing cycle. Outbound bandwidth is any traffic that leaves exe.dev. Inbound traffic does not count.

At the end of the billing cycle, we compare the outbound bandwidth used with your allowance. Extra bandwidth is measured in GiB (1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes) and priced at the rate on exe.dev/pricing.
